Chief Master Sergeant BRENDA K. KIRBY

Chief Master Sergeant Brenda K. Kirby is the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the 192d Fighter Wing, Virginia Air National Guard, Langley AFB, VA. She works directly for the Wing Commander and advises him on matters impacting the enlisted force, such as proper utilization, quality of enlisted leadership, management/supervisor training, operations tempo, and quality of life concerns. She ensures the commanders policies are known and understood by the enlisted force and monitors compliance with Air Force standards. She
serves on advisory councils, and serves as the functional manager for assigned first sergeants.

Chief Kirby enlisted in the Air Force July 1985 with the 290th Combat  Communications Squadron, McDill AFB, FL as a ground radio operator. In 1987, she joined the 192d Fighter Wing, Virginia Air National Guard. In 1994, she cross-trained to the Chaplain Assistant career field where she has held various leadership positions at both the unit level and National Guard Bureau. In 2006, she competed nationally and had the distinction of being promoted to the highest ranking drill status guardsman in the Chaplain Assistant career field. She has served overseas in Italy and Germany, and deployed in support of humanitarian missions and operations SOUTHERN WATCH, NORTHERN WATCH and ENDURING FREEDOM.
