Chief Master Sergeant TANYA A. CONRAD

Chief Master Sgt. Tanya A. Conrad is the Senior Enlisted Leader of the 192nd Maintenance Group, 192nd Wing, at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. She provides leadership, management, safety, security, and guidance to more than 400 Airmen and civilians in partnership with the 1st Maintenance Group in organizing, equipping, training, and mobilizing the group to meet home station and expeditionary mission requirements. She enables the combined team’s readiness for rapid, worldwide deployment and ensures long-term fleet health and combat capability of more than 50 F-22s and associated equipment.

Chief Conrad was raised in Hendersonville, North Carolina, and enlisted in the Air Force in June 1987. Her first assignment was with the 437th Supply Squadron at Charleston Air Force Base, South Carolina, as a Fuels Specialist. In 1989, she was assigned to Eielson AFB, Alaska, with the 343rd Supply Squadron as a Fuels Controller. From 1991 to 1994, she was a member of the 168th Air Refueling Wing, Alaska Air National Guard, and then the 121st Air Refueling Wing, Ohio ANG, as an Information Management Specialist. In 1994, she joined the 192nd Fighter Wing, Virginia ANG, as a Fuels Craftsman. When the unit converted from F-16's to F-22's in 2008, she retrained to the Aircraft Armament System career field as a weapons loader. After three years, Chief Conrad continued to lead as the 192nd Intelligence Squadron First Sergeant, the 192nd Wing First Sergeant and the 192nd Wing Weapons Manager. She has served overseas in Italy, Spain, Curacao, and Guam, and deployed in support of humanitarian missions and Operations Northern Watch, Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom, NATO Resolute Support, and Freedom’s Sentinel. Prior to her current position, the chief was the Senior Enlisted Leader of the 192nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 192nd Wing, Virginia ANG, at JB Langley-Eustis, Va.

In her civilian capacity, Chief Conrad is a retired police officer and was a member of the Crisis Negotiations and Crash Reconstruction teams. She also instructs fellow officers in the region in Crisis Intervention and has been actively involved in mental health programs. She currently serves on the Department of Charitable Gaming Legislative Board.
