COLONEL THOMAS P. MCATEE

Colonel Thomas P. McAtee is the Commander, 192d Operations Group, Virginia Air National Guard.  The 192d OG is a classic associate group of over 200 airmen serving across two missions: F-22 operations in support of Combatant Commander war plans, and global intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.  The 192d OG meets its federal missions to train, equip, and deploy Airmen ready to fly, fight and win, and to provide continuous imagery analysis and intelligence in support of operations around the globe.   He also ensures the 192d OG responds to state and national emergencies as directed by the Governor of Virginia.

Colonel McAtee was commissioned in 1992 following graduation from the United States Air Force Academy. He served over 13 years in the active duty before transitioning to the Virginia Air National Guard in 2005. He has served in a number of flying and staff positions and has been stationed in the PACOM and EUCOM AORs. He is a command pilot with more than 3,000 hours in the F-16 and F-22. He has more than 270 combat hours and has participated in Operations Desert Strike, Southern Watch, Northern Watch, Iraqi Freedom and Noble Eagle.
