The 192nd Fighter Wing honored its top performers during an annual holiday awards banquet, Dec. 9, 2017, at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia.

Virginia National Guard’s senior leaders were in attendance to present awards to the state’s overall Outstanding Guardsmen of the Year.

“Thank you so much for what each and every one of you do for your community, common wealth, and the nation,” said Command Sgt. Maj. Alan Ferris, Virginia National Guard Senior Enlisted Advisor.

State-level award recipients are: Senior Airman Devin Ford, 192nd Maintenance Group, as Outstanding Airman of the Year; Tech. Sgt. Ryan Folks, 192nd Operations Group, as Outstanding Non-commissioned Officer of the Year; Master Sgt. Michelle Riter, 192nd Operations Group, as Outstanding Senior NCO of the Year; and Master Sgt. Lacey Moore, 192nd Mission Support Group, as First Sergeant of the Year.

Folks was also recognized as the Outstanding Guardsman of the Year.

Brig. Gen. Robert Grey, Virginia Assistant Adjutant General, Air and Strategic Initiatives, congratulated Wing members for receiving their third consecutive Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.

“It’s humbling to read what everyone up here has done because it’s a reflection of what the whole Wing does on a regular basis,” said Col. Frank Lobash, 192nd FW commander.

The banquet continued with dinner and a holiday spirit competition. Each group had the chance to show off their festive themes with decorations, costumes, and enthusiasm. The Mission Support Group took this year’s “Spirit Award” with their Lego theme.

The banquet was also an opportunity to give back to the local community. Members brought canned foods to the celebration for donation to the Virginia Peninsula Food Bank.
