Change of command ceremony celebrates new commanders for 192nd Fighter Wing and Maintenance Group

In a joint change of command ceremony, the 192nd Fighter Wing and Maintenance Group commanders take the helm.

U.S. Air Force Col. Robert J. Grey took command of the of the 192nd Fighter Wing, during a change of command ceremony held July 13, 2013 at Joint Base Langley-Eustis. Grey assumed command of the 192nd Fighter Wing from the Virginia National Guard Air Component Commander, Brigadier General Zane R. Johnson. Johnson was the presiding official for the ceremony.

Grey recently returned from a deployment where he served as the Deputy Commander for the 9th Air Expeditionary Task Force in Kabul, Afghanistan. Prior to this, he commanded the 192nd Fighter Wing Maintenance Group where he led more than 400 Airmen who maintained the F-22 Raptor.

Immediately following his assumption of command, Grey transitioned to the role of presiding official for the maintenance group change of command and welcomed Lt. Col. Steve Bunting as the new Maintenance Group commander. Bunting previously served as the 149th Fighter Squadron commander and has accumulated over 2,300 hours in fighter aircraft
.
He led the 149th through multiple training and real world deployments, and continued the evolution of the Langley total force integration. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to take over such an outstanding group and look forward to continuing the excellent work we do each day on this jet," said Bunting.
