“In 2014, I joined the Air Force active duty but after five years of being away from family I decided to join the Air National Guard. When I separated in 2019, I had the chance come back home and start a family of my own. I get to experience military life, while also being there for my family as much as I want to be.
Not many people get to say they have been deployed to the capital of the United States. Being here has brought us closer together and I feel like I’ve come out of my shell; I’ve really got to know my fellow defenders while here. It’s a very unique experience!”  -- Staff Sgt. Alyssa Yaeckel, 192nd Security Forces Squadron defender
